Tanzania Community Projects, Community Project Tanzania, Tanzania Charity Challenge

Tanzania & Kenya Safaris are committed to helping and working with local community projects by donating food, provide schooling, vocational training, sanitation and safe water supplies. equipments and financial help whenever possible. Integral to our mission and projects is the education of such communities on HIV Aids and assistance for families affected, as well as the promotion of environmentally friendly activities and conservation.Part of our commitments is to raise the profile of the projects as much as possible.

We are fortunate to have Doctors working with our team to promote healthcare and give medical assistance to those in great need. Doctors has always reached medical help due to geography and lack of money. A way for him to achieve his goals is to join our treks through the Maasai villages. This means that while he is on hand to provide medical care to the trek participants, he can also treat villagers as the trek passes through. One of the biggest killers in the Maasai community is malaria.

We are hoping to organize visits to Maasai villages where Doctors can be joined by a team nurses who can educate the local people on malaria prevention. Our Doctors also makes regular visits to the two community projects we support – Ngarenairobi Orphanage and Miti Mirefu Primary School. Both projects are filled with children in desperate need of help. Please contact us If you would like to visit a project and/or help in any way. We would be more than happy to arrange a visit and we can help you to purchase food or equipment if you wish to make a donation in this way.

Miti mirefu primary School is located in an extremely remote area and caters for the children of the surrounding Maasai Villages in West Kilimanjaro near Ndarakwai Camp There is an ongoing battle to promote the importance of education amongst the Maasai people as many of the elders prefer the children to grow up in the traditional way of life without any formal education, Miti mirefu Primary School is not against keeping traditions alive but would like to provide the children to attend is by providing food. Sadly the school often runs out of money to buy food and therefore the attendance decreases.

The school is situated in a very poor area and although there is some financial help from the government for each school, the amount received is very small and does not go very far. The school exists mainly from donations usually from some of the parents if they are able to afford o help or from tourist who may have ventures into such remote areas.

The building is extremely run down with only a few classrooms. There is very little school furniture and almost no equipment. There is a desperate need for writing materials and text books for children. As the area is so remote, the school need to provide accommodation for qualified teachers to come and work .Unfortunately the standard of accommodation is so low that it is too difficult to persuade teachers to stay therefore the children rely on local people to come and teach them.

Tanzania & Kenya Safaris Company is starting a development program me for the school whereby we can take our clients who wish to help and also organize regular visits for medical care.
