However, it gives more time to recover and opportunities for “climb high and sleep low” for better acclimatization. So the success rate is 85%. For a successful summit, 7 days is recommended. Lemosho route is known as the most scenic and longer route which approaches Mount Kilimanjaro climbing from the west and joins the Machame route. The trekkers are needed to be physically fit for a long hiking. Due to longer route, the hikers can get plenty of time for acclimatization. The success rate is 90% and the difficulty level is medium. The Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Cost is also affordable for the budget travellers. With a less traffic, you have to go through the beautiful scenic rainforest. You can enjoy the scenic views and stunning wildlife like elephant, buffalo, lion etc. and dramatic gorges of western side, and other both sides of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Rongai Route is the driest route which approaches Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing from the north and descends through Marangu route. For the gradual sloppy path with perfect staggering camps, the success rate is 85%. Acclimatization profile in this route is very good. With less traffic, this route is accessible also in wet season and recommended for those who have less bag pack experience. In this route, you will experience unspoiled wilderness and panoramic scenic views.
Umbwe route is the most challenging and shortest route among all Kilimanjaro Climbing Routes. As it is the steepest, toughest among the entire route, the summit success rate is 75%. This is not the route for new and inexperienced trekkers. In this route, there are high possibilities of altitude sickness. For the success summit, it is recommended to take 9 days. It has worst acclimatization profile.
Marangu route is the only route which offers Mandarahut and lodge accommodations in its Climb Mount Kilimanjaro Tours. It is popularly known as “Coca-cola” Route. You will find standard accommodations of Mandara huts, Horombo huts, and Kibo huts.
Famous as “Tourist route”, it is the busiest and easiest route for the summit and is popular for Kilimanjaro Group Climbs. Due to low acclimatization profile, the success rate is 65%. Due to poor acclimatization, we suggest to take 6 days for a successful summit.
Shira route is the old version of Lemosho route. It starts from the western side and descends through the Mweka route. We are often asked in the Kilimanjaro FAQ about the success rate of Shira route. The Success rate is lower than other routes except Umbwe route. You will face high altitude on first of hiking; this route demands a tough start.
